Still safely stowed
A friendly "Good morning all!" from Captain Bryan Chipperfield as his ship makes its way through the Gulf of Bengal, 240 sea miles east of Sri Lanka. The weather: air temperature 28 degrees, water temperature 29 degrees centigrade. Cloudless blue skies, a calm sea - makes you jealous!
The crew of the P&O Nedlloyd Southampton had their hands full this past weekend at their last port of call, Singapore: they unloaded 2,200 containers and took the same number on board again. Incidentally, containers are measured in TEU units: a 20-foot container is 6.05 metres long, 2.44 metres wide, and 2.59 metres high.
Despite all the coming and going on board, the capt’n assures us that "the Kumano No. 59 ferry boat is still safely stowed away on board."
