The idea for 'Shipped Ships' came form the turkish artist Ayse Erkmen. In accordance with her concept three passenger ferries form Japan, Italy and Turkey are being shipped on large freight containers to Frankfurt am Main. From April 28th to May 27th 2001 these ferries will cross and re-cross the Main within the city boundaries of Frankfurt. Anyone who is interested can participate directly in the four-week installation - the only decision necessary is whether to take the ferry from Istanbul, the one from Shingu or the one from Venice.
